Making Use of Your Time
When we asked some of the Fearless team was there anything they would like on the blog, they suggested - Making the best use of your time - basically the famous “Time Management”.
So here goes :)
Alot of the ideas in this post are from Eat that Frog. You can get a pdf copy online . Super helpful.
But if you don’t have time to read the book, here are some key ideas:
Start Today
Imagining yourself to be a better time-keeper in the future will never happen. You need to start today.
Start Small
Pick something small to improve on today instead of trying to be great at everything. Starting small can go something like this: start studying at a specific time; keep your mobile outside of your room when studying; or set a time to how much you plan to study (small amount at first) and stick to it.
Use a Notebook
Use a notebook to pencil in where your time goes. This helps to know yourself and set goals to improve.
Once this is done, improve in little ways. For example, if you watch 2 hours of Netflix, maybe reduce that to 1 and a half hours 2 times a week.
Start with the Subject you hate the Most
When doing your homework, get the worst over first. Then you will enjoy the rest. If you start with the easy stuff, you won’t have energy to do the subject you hate the most. ;) Common sense but it’s amazing how we can trick ourselves in not doing it!
Study in Class
We don’t mean here doing your homework in class!! But instead approach each class as if you are studying the material that the teacher is giving, rather than sitting passively. You’ll make more use of time and feel more productive in class. Win-Win!
Expect your plans to change
No matter how much we plan our day, there will be changes: something took longer than expected, your family need you to help, the car broke down, etc. Don’t give up! Begin again but always starting small.
Changing in small ways over time is much better than trying to change everything in a day or in a week. You’ll achieve much more.
Enjoy the Process
Approach your school day and your homework as something to enjoy. Attitude has alot to play in how we approach anything. If you are constantly thinking of the next thing or wanting something to finsih, you’ll never discover the good that is in the present.
